Over the Easter weekend we headed off to Rotterdam to explore the city and its surrounds. Its a great city, full to the brim of all modernist architecture, canals and windmills. We headed for the day to Delft to have a wander around this beautiful compact old town. Vermeer spent his life here and painted all his masterpieces of the city and it inhabitants. As I've become more interested in light and lighting, it was a masterclass in how to use light to create a mood and atmosphere. Very different approach to Rembrandt who was his contemporary. After this we visited the Royal Delft factory. It was amazing to see behind the scenes. Loads to take inspiration from.
